Finland plans to ban Russians from real estate transactions

The Finnish authorities plan to prohibit Russians from carrying out real estate transactions. Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen spoke about this.

According to the official, legal bases are currently being sought to introduce the ban. This will not require changes to the legislation, he added.

“It is possible that certain decisions will be made in the spring,” said Häkkänen.

In addition, the Finnish authorities will carry out an investigation into real estate transactions already carried out by Russians.

As part of the 12th package of EU sanctions against Russia, the Finnish authorities received the right to confiscate property belonging to Russian citizens under sanctions, the Finnish Defense Minister emphasized.
