The operations of the stations were affected by the double-digit cold, drivers said. The temperature in Chicago that day was -16.
However, most of the drivers said that the stations were in good condition, but their vehicles had problems charging. The reason for this is literally frozen compressors and heat pumps that prepare the electric car for the journey.
The battery also needs to be prepared automatically before charging: When the driver enters the address of the charging station, the system does this preparation itself. Perhaps we are talking about a system failure due to a sharp cold.
Drivers also state that they cannot pay when connecting the vehicle to the Supercharger.
One way or another, Tesla has yet to comment on what’s going on.
