Huawei has released new materials from HarmonyOS Next, the new version of the brand’s mobile operating system. The clip is an introduction to the update, which will officially reach devices in the last quarter of 2024 and will come as standard in the next versions of the brand.
The video, which was first shown at the Harmony Ecology Conference event this Thursday (18), highlights some of the platform’s visual elements and resources.

Before the launch, the Beta version of HuaweiOS Next is supposed to be released by the company in the second quarter of 2024, so that the public has a more concrete idea of what to expect from the platform.
HuaweiOS Next is an evolution in the brand’s strategy
The operating system, also called Galaxy Edition in China, is described as a vibrantly colored, immersive and spatial (in the sense of reaching different dimensions) service.
The service will have some features not available in the original HarmonyOS, such as new floating window effects and native apps that are identified by their own colors, distinguishing them from each other.
Another technical difference of the system is that it was made entirely by Huawei from scratch, without being dependent on the Linux kernel or Android ecosystem as in other parallel platforms.
In practice, this means that the Chinese manufacturer, which was banned from using the company’s apps and services in 2020 due to political tensions between China and the USA, is completely independent of Google.
Since the Google Play Store will not be available, Huawei guarantees that: there are at least 200 native apps currently in development for the most diverse functions and notable names in the industry. Initially, only the Chinese market should receive HarmonyOS Next.
