A team of scientists recently concluded that people who spend long periods of time sitting at work have a 16% higher risk of premature death. This is likened to those who work without sitting.

However, experts noted that there is a way to correct the situation. To do this, it is enough to get up and move a little during the day or exercise sitting (15-30 minutes a day). These actions significantly reduced the likelihood of premature death.

Sitting can contribute to weakening of the legs and trunk, as well as increased blood flow to the extremities and low-grade inflammation. Over time, this can lead to reduced insulin effectiveness, diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome and impaired kidney function, researchers say.

Approximately 482,000 Taiwanese people with an average age of 39 participated in the latest study.

It turns out that the likelihood of premature death due to sedentary work increases with age and is more pronounced in women: 21% versus 13% in men.

Additionally, those who sit most of the time during the workday have a 34% higher risk of dying from heart disease than those who do not sit.
