Spotify is preparing to offer subscriptions from within the application on iPhone. This Wednesday (24), the company announced how Shopping experience for consumers residing in Europe.
The introduction of the proposals is a result of the Digital Markets Act (“Digital Markets Act” in free translation), which will begin in March and paves the way for platforms to publish freely and process payments freely.
Until then, Apple was taking 30% of all sales made on the app. As a countermeasure, Spotify did not allow iPhone and iPad users to subscribe to the service from the app, requiring redirection to the web, harming the consumer experience.

Spotify change will come into effect in March
The new shopping experience on Spotify will be available on March 7 this year. However, the efficiency of the new system is still unclear.
So far, Apple has not yet announced how it will comply with the new legislation. The policies that developers must follow have not yet been defined, and it is possible that the company will wait until the last moment to announce them.
The analyst is at: BloombergMark Gurman states that the company will launch some kind of alternative App Store, so that developers can launch applications more freely, while the standard store will continue to follow stricter rules. If the rumor is true, it’s possible that Spotify could only charge for subscriptions to the app distributed by this second store.
The announcement of Spotify’s new shopping experience on iOS wasn’t in vain: The streaming platform has been fighting Apple over App Store commission for years, using public pressure to back up its arguments.
