Swedish company Zound Industries has bought iconic 60-year-old audio equipment manufacturer Marshall Amplification. The products of this company at different times were used by the stars of the world music scene, including Elton John, Kurt Cobain, Metallica and others.
Swedish wireless speaker and headphone maker Zound Industries has bought Britain-based Marshall Amplification, according to The Verge. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed, it will include all brands and subsidiaries of Marshall Amplification.
As a result of the merger of the two companies, the Marshall Group will be formed, whose main shareholders, with a 24% stake, will be representatives of the Marshall family, descendants of Jim Marshall, who founded Marshall Amplification in 1962.
The Marshall Group board of directors will include former Marshall Amplification CEO Victoria Marshall and Terry Marshall, son of company founder Jim Marshall. Jeremy de Maillard, director of Zound Industries, has been appointed CEO of the company.
90% of Zound Industries’ sales were Marshall Amplification products, which it produced under license. Marshall Amplification is a company with 60 years of history, whose amplifiers and audio equipment have been used by the stars of the world music scene at different times.
