Russian computer equipment manufacturers plan to increase motherboard production volumes in 2024 due to the growing number of orders. For now, they are creating solutions for devices of older generations, due to the lack of the necessary technical documentation by Western processor developers, writes Kommersant.

Russia plans to increase motherboard production volumes due to increased orders

GS Group will launch another motherboard production line in February. Additional equipment, test areas and warehouses will cost the company 200 million rubles. This will double capacity to 1 million plates per year.

Electronics manufacturer Fplus plans to increase production “from several tens of thousands to several hundred thousand” in 2024 due to increased demand.

The Association of Electronics Developers and Manufacturers (ARPE) confirmed the overall growth of motherboard production in Russia, but found it difficult to list absolute figures. The organization noted that the demand is related to government regulation and customers’ plans for import substitution. In 2023, the queue for contract production in the country, due to import substitution, lasted for several months and prices increased by 20%.

At the same time, as noted by the manufacturer of servers and storage systems Bitblaze Promobit, in Russia there are still difficulties with the production and design of electronic products on modern processors, “released from the beginning from the pressure of sanctions”, since They do not have official documentation that allows the chip to be integrated into the rate.
