At the plant of Toyota Industries Corporation (Toyota Motor contractor), inspections began in connection with falsification of data on the power of diesel engines. The investigation is being carried out by Japan’s Ministry of Public Lands, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
The authorities will take appropriate measures based on the results of the inspection, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said at a press conference in Tokyo, TASS reports.
The day before, Toyota Motor decided to suspend deliveries of the Land Cruiser 300 SUV, the Hilux pickup truck and eight other models with engines whose certification revealed violations.
In 2023, Toyota and its Daihatsu and Hino subsidiaries sold 11.23 million cars, trucks and buses worldwide. This was a record in the history of the corporation.
