The US Navy intends to strengthen its submarine fleet in the near future. There are a total of six Boeing Orca-type robotic capsules. The first of them, XLEO, a test version of the future series, was put into service on December 20 last year. The remaining five will already be full-fledged combat units, designed to penetrate the impact zone to conduct reconnaissance, sabotage and perform other tasks.

“Orka” is a diesel-electric autonomous submarine with a modular section where equipment and weapons will be located within sight of missions. In total, 15.5 x 2.6 x 2.6 m, versus 50 tons. Distance from the ground – about 10,500 km, depth of gravity – 335 m.

The hybrid diesel-electric power will soon provide its surface speed of 15 km/h. Powerful batteries are designed for storing dual-use water “Kasatka”. The 10 m long ship was separated from the middle part of the robotic submarine.

The small size of the Killer Whale makes it invisible, which allows it to monitor image objects in its field of view, quietly approach coastal measurement objects and conduct electronic reconnaissance.

Submarines do not stay close to their GPS satellites. In this case, the Killer Whale is deployed and combined with the task, it is not the same as conventional weapons and glass rackets. The submarine can also be used in search and rescue operations.
