Buttigieg spoke out harshly about such drivers after seeing a video of a user wearing mixed reality glasses and driving with the headset on. The official also reminded that all driver assistance systems available today require maximum concentration, monitoring of road conditions and ensuring traffic safety.

Following the minister, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also issued an official statement. The statement said the use of Vision Pro and similar devices was “reckless and dangerous for all road users.”

In response to a request from The New York Times journalists, Apple replied that the Vision Pro operating rules prohibit the use of the headset while driving a moving vehicle, whether a car or a bicycle.
