Sources Kommersant reported that the Russian manufacturer Aquarius is preparing its own mobile operating system based on the open source AOSP (Android Open Source Project).
This OS will be used on smartphones and tablets of companies in the government, corporate and consumer segments. Aquarius itself does not comment on the statements, but the Ministry of Digital Development reported that if applications are received from Aquarius, the department will add their OS to the register after inspections.
Kommersant’s interlocutor among mobile OS developers notes that the registry already has Android-based OS from Kernel and Red Soft. But there is a nuance:
Using smartphones with AOSP OS can be dangerous, as the code is owned and controlled by American Google and may have software bookmarks.
– Kommersant’s interlocutor
Another interlocutor of the publication among electronics manufacturers believes that due to the increase in the number of mobile OSes in the registry, the Ministry of Digital Development will begin to limit access to it due to an overabundance of Russian OSes based on other OSes. [Коммерсантъ]
