A device similar to the iPad series could start taking market share from tablets in the future, according to a new report.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman argues in his latest “Power On” newsletter that Apple’s Vision Pro, while still in its infancy, could be a dent in iPad sales while offering a significantly better user experience for the basic tasks the tablet was designed for. .
Apple has long tried to position its iPads as a replacement for Macs or laptops.
However, despite the addition of keyboard and mouse support and professional applications such as Final Cut, the strategy did not deliver the results it was expected to deliver.
Gurman notes that the Apple Vision Pro does a great job of streaming video, doing light work, sending emails and other messages, viewing photos, and using it as an external monitor for the Mac.
This makes it an alternative to a computer in situations where the iPad is typically used, such as sitting on the couch, in bed, or on an airplane.
