The main reason for the protest is that wages are not high enough. For the second year in a row, salaries at Ubisoft grew slower than the rate of inflation.
Additionally, employees are unhappy with the company’s plans to reduce production costs by 200 million euros over two years, despite the successful financial results reported by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.
Apparently the company management decided to save a lot of money in order to change the business model to a more profitable one.
For example, after the failure of the Assassin’s Creed Nexus game, the company decided to significantly reduce investments in virtual reality. The company also faced difficulties due to the high costs of developing Skull and Bones, which the company called a “AAA game”.
