In the period from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on February 18, users around the world complained about delays in sending messages in the Telegram messenger. Problems were noted in the smartphone app (58%), while there were almost no complaints about the desktop version (6%).
The peak was at 2:30 p.m., when Downdetector recorded 852 reports worldwide. The total number of messages does not exceed 11 thousand during the entire failure, according to the version of Failure.rf. Downradar reports a volume of 9 thousand.
Directly in Russia, 37% of requests came from Moscow (Downradar has data on 2.48 thousand messages), 12% from St. Petersburg, the figures for other regions do not exceed 5%.
The Center for Monitoring and Management of the Public Communications Network (TsMU SSOP) of Roskomnadzor issued a statement that the cause of the failure was the work of the internal infrastructure of the service.
