Amid the spread of rumors on X about the closure of Gmail, Elon Musk hinted that his social network will soon launch its own email service. Its draft name is XMail.
X security engineer Nate McGrady asked in his account: “When will we do XMail?” Musk responded to this with the following phrase: “Soon”.
The publication PCMag, which drew attention to Musk’s statement, was skeptical of the billionaire’s vision. According to the magazine, X is already busy developing other features such as online payments and video calling, as well as attracting advertisers.
Furthermore, it is “unlikely that X will comply, especially since there are already many email services on the Internet.”
Rumors about Gmail closing were also not confirmed. In the midst of the misinformation, the company even had to make a statement on its X account:
“Gmail isn’t going anywhere,” he said.
Last August, X announced the launch of beta testing of the X Hiring HR platform. Only verified users who have paid for a subscription can post vacancies on the social network.
