The Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) identified about 9.3 million wallets in Qiwi Bank with a total amount of funds of 4.4 billion rubles. This is indicated in the DIA message.
In anonymous wallets (the limit for them is up to 15 thousand rubles) there are about 277 million rubles, in total there are 1.3 million such wallets. The average balance of a wallet is 212 rubles.
In wallets with simplified identification (limit up to 60 thousand rubles) 2.35 billion rubles were placed and in total there are 7.15 million such wallets. The average balance is 328 rubles.
In wallets that require complete customer identification (limit up to 600 thousand rubles), there are 1.76 billion rubles, Qiwi has 870 thousand wallets in this category. The average balance of a wallet is 2034 rubles.
Currently, the DIA is working to simplify the procedure for submitting claims through the personal account of the Qiwi payment service for owners of electronic wallets.
The DIA also recalled that electronic wallets are not covered by the law on deposit insurance, but noted that, according to preliminary information, the credit institution has sufficient assets to pay all creditors. The requirements for electronic wallets will be fulfilled during the liquidation of Qiwi Bank within the framework of the third stage of claims registration.
- To enter the register of creditor claims, wallet owners will need to submit their claims to a credit institution.
- When submitting an application, you must indicate your full name, date of birth, details of an identity document, postal address, contact information (telephone, email address), payment details for transferring funds, indicate the wallet number and the amount of funds.
- The application must be accompanied by a certificate from the telecom operator, which will confirm that the subscriber number to which the Qiwi wallet is registered belongs to the applicant.
On February 21, the Bank of Russia revoked Qiwi Bank’s banking license. After this, Qiwi wallet replenishment turned out to be unavailable and the payment system also blocked the withdrawal of funds. Customers of other banks cooperating with Qiwi also had problems. Later, the Central Bank stated that Qiwi Bank, according to preliminary estimates, has sufficient funds to return money from electronic wallets.
The Moscow Stock Exchange also announced that it would exclude Qiwi PLC’s global depositary receipts from its stock indexes. The document will be removed from the settlement databases as of February 27.
RB.RU talked about what to do if you have a deposit in Qiwi Bank and funds in a Qiwi wallet, to whom and when the money will be returned, and what to do if you have problems paying for services.
