IN (MVK) 2024 is home to countless smartphone announcements, including a couple from Honor. At the event, we learned that Honor Magic 6 Pro and Magic V2 RSR (Porsche Edition) are entering the global market.

While the company expands on the former’s artificial intelligence capabilities, the special edition focuses on the hardware. Honor Magic 6 Pro receives MagicOS 8.0 based Android 14, which includes features such as Magic Capsule and Magic Portal, providing a more personalized and intuitive experience. Based on the specs and features we’ve seen, the Magic 6 Pro will be a real contender Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Magic Portal is Honor’s artificial intelligence, which is touted as “understanding user messages and behavior, simplifying complex tasks into a one-step process.” On the other hand, Magic Capsule with eye tracking technology is a way to control your phone using your eyes. The feature was introduced at Snapdragon Summit 2023 late last year and is now available in China. Users can control the drop-down menu in the notification pop-up window on the Magic 6 Pro using their eyes. It looks great and I can’t wait to try it out when it releases worldwide.

Honor Magic 6 Pro features a large 6.8-inch LTPO display and its quad-curve design makes the screen immersive. The Magic 6 Pro’s display supports Dolby Vision, 4320Hz PWM dimming for better eye care, and 5,000 nits peak brightness that hits multiple pixels when viewing HDR content. It is big, bright and rich. The display is protected by Honor’s nano-crystalline shield, which provides good protection against drops.

I love the design of the back of the Magic 6 Pro, which features a cushion-shaped camera module with a leather finish that fits comfortably in the hand. It’s a large phone that’s comfortable to hold without being slippery. It comes in Black and Epi Green (I prefer the latter). The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and is paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. I have yet to get my head around the phone, but my daily experience so far has been smooth.

The Honor Magic 6 Pro also impresses with its front camera. It features a triple rear camera setup that includes a 180-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 2.5x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. It is accompanied by two 50-megapixel main and ultra-wide-angle cameras. On the front, there is also a 50-megapixel camera and a 3D time-of-flight sensor for better facial recognition. I still need time to try out the cameras, but based on the raw specs, there’s a lot to be excited about. Honor Magic 6 Pro also packs a 5600mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging and 66W wireless charging.

The Honor Magic 6 Pro costs £1,100 ($1,395) and can be purchased from the HiHonor website. You can use code AM6PP250 at checkout to get £250 ($317) off with a subscriber coupon. The company is offering 12 months of free screen protection and a special price on the recently launched Honor Pad 9 – £150 ($190), down from £300 ($380).
