The Central Bank of Russia revoked the license of Hephaestus Bank. The latter did not comply with the laws and granted loans to the owners.
Over the past year, the regulator has repeatedly applied measures to the bank, including limiting the attraction of funds from depositors. In terms of assets, the credit institution ranked 336th in the banking system.
A significant portion of Hephaestus’ corporate loan portfolio was represented by legal entities directly or indirectly related to its beneficiaries. At the same time, more than 60% of the loan portfolio consisted of low-quality loans. In this context, the bank carried out transactions that ensured formal compliance with capital requirements, the regulator notes.
Hephaestus also ignored the instructions of the Central Bank to eliminate violations in the field of information security identified in its activities.
Temporary administration has been appointed for CB Gefest LLC, the Deposit Insurance Agency. The bank participates in the deposit insurance system, so depositors will receive 100% of the balance of funds, but no more than 1.4 million rubles in total per depositor. Payment will be made by the DIA Group of Companies.
- On February 21, the Bank of Russia revoked Qiwi Bank’s banking license. After this, Qiwi wallet replenishment turned out to be unavailable and the payment system also blocked the withdrawal of funds. Customers of other banks cooperating with Qiwi also had problems. Later, the Central Bank stated that Qiwi Bank, according to preliminary estimates, has sufficient funds to return money from electronic wallets.
- Qiwi Plc group commented on the revocation of Qiwi Bank’s license. According to the company, there were no signs of bankruptcy and revoking the license could make it difficult for the buyer to pay for the Russian assets.
