Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be announced in October this year, confirmed a company executive on social media this Tuesday (28). The new chipset will mark the debut of Orion cores in the mobile market.
The announcement was made during a video shot by Don McGuire, Qualcomm’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer (CMO). He starts the broadcast by talking a little about the artificial intelligence (AI)-related news presented at MWC.

“Snapdragon Summit will take place in October, and I know it seems like it’ll be a long time until then, but there will be a lot of cool things going on there, like the reinvention of our mobile platforms with Orion CPUs,” he noted.
“And this will be a great combination, along with the announcement of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which I know you will be eager to check out, and it will happen in October 2024,” he added.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 was already expected to launch this year, but this is the first time Qualcomm has mentioned the name of the component and given a solid prediction for the launch.
Although CMO does not provide detailed information about the component, mentioning the Oryon CPU integration is important information. These cores are found in Snapdragon X Elite processors designed for laptops.
For now, the Snapdragon X Elite chipset is not included in any devices on the market, but leaked tests show that the component is quite powerful and promises very high energy efficiency.
