We’re talking about the new Accident Prevention Alert function of Volvo Cars driver assistance system. In real time, based on data coming directly from the traffic control center of the Danish Road Administration, the driver will be instantly informed of an accident occurring on the same road. This will not only help you avoid traffic jams, but will also prevent you from getting into an accident.
As the developers promised, the driver will know about the accident a few hundred meters away from the incident. Location data will be provided by national road authorities and compatible vehicles, starting with other Volvo vehicles. First in Denmark, then in other European countries.
“Using our pioneering connected safety technology, Collision Warning can help Volvo drivers avoid unpleasant surprises and contribute to improving safety on public roads. Thanks to our collaboration with the Danish Road Administration and other partners in the Road Safety Data ecosystem, we are able to introduce this new feature and continue our leadership in safety innovations,” said Esa Haglund, head of Volvo Cars Safety Centre.
