MTS has enabled its subscribers in the Moscow region to connect to home GPON Internet, Wi-Fi routers and other devices via a regular Internet cable using a PON socket.
The PON socket is a compact device with dimensions of 90 x 72 x 26 mm.. The terminal is equipped with an input in the form of a PON port (it includes the Internet via fiber optic) and an output – a LAN port for connecting an Ethernet cable. Speeds up to 1 Gbps are supported.
Previously, when connecting home fiber optics, MTS installed ONT routers, the powerful capabilities of which were beyond the reach of advanced users. With the new D-Link DPN-101G/R1 PON terminal, you can now connect almost any model of Wi-Fi router to your devices, set up a Mesh system, connect to the network of a computer, TV, CCTV camera and other devices.
Typically, a PON terminal is installed instead of a standard ONT router in the front door, where a fiber optic cable is inserted from the outside. Then a Wi-Fi router is connected to it using a twisted pair cable. Or you can run it via an optical cable in any convenient place in your apartment or house.
We listen carefully to the needs of our customers in order to constantly improve the quality of our services and at the same time maintain aesthetics when installing technological devices in the home. The functionality of the terminal provides subscribers with ample opportunities both in choosing router models and in improving Wi-Fi coverage.
Thanks to its compact size, the PON socket fits neatly into the design of any apartment, while providing high Internet speed for all devices connected to the network.
— Marketing Director of the Moscow region of MTS Pavel Plyasenko
Standard installation of PON socket for free. Installation of a PON terminal in another location of the apartment, including using a transparent cable, is subject to an additional fee.
The device is rented for just 1 ruble per month.
