One of Musk’s first moves after acquiring Twitter (now X) was to fire Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and attorneys Sean Edgett and Vijaya Gadde. Plaintiffs say Musk harbors “particular anger” toward these former executives, who went to great lengths to force him into complying with $44 billion in obligations when he tried to back out.
The lawsuit references Walter Isaacson’s biography of Elon Musk; Here, Musk is quoted as saying that he will “hunt down” everyone in Twitter’s upper management for the rest of their lives.
Elon Musk was particularly criticized for his treatment of Gadda, who was involved in content moderation decisions on Twitter. After applying to buy Twitter, Musk posted memes mocking the executive, prompting a wave of racist attacks online.
This isn’t the first time Musk has failed to pay compensation. It also faces lawsuits from former Twitter employees demanding payment. Under his leadership, the company stopped paying rent for some offices, leading to additional lawsuits and evictions.
According to the lawsuit, Musk alleged that these executives committed “gross breach of duty” and “intentional gross misconduct” in their termination letters, but provided no evidence of his claims.
