In the near future, solid-state drives under the domestic brand will appear on the Russian market, but in reality they will be produced at Chinese factories. An interesting idea to sell such discs is put forward by Merlion, a large Russian distributor, which owns the Digma and Digma Pro brands, as well as the Citylink store chain. They even registered the domain name king.price.ru for the new King Price brand, which will be established in 2022, according to media reports.
In addition to solid-state drives, Merlion plans to offer other computer components, including cases and power supplies. This step can inspire other participants in the Russian IT market who can also create their own brands. According to experts, in the near future Russians may face an influx of new domestic computer electronics brands, although they are actually of Chinese origin.
Some experts doubt the success of such an initiative. The head of the Computer and Information Technology Enterprises Association expressed concern that Russian hardware would be more expensive than Chinese hardware, which could scare off buyers. He also stated that low order volumes and limited export potential may affect the price of the product.
