A former UPS employee is accused of stealing more than $1.3 million worth of Apple equipment and reselling it for a profit.

Orville Beltrano stole approximately 866 Apple devices from the warehouse where he worked since 2013. He was a supervisor and leaker for a technical school on the Canadian free classifieds site Kijiji.

Only from September 2023 to January 2024, Beltrano replenished his bank accounts with an amount exceeding $232 thousand. The employee was fired from UPS on January 22 and arrested on the same day. At his home and auto investigators found $9,000 in power, a Mac laptop and more than $9,000 worth of jewelry.

Beltrano admitted to using the money to buy a $680,000 home and to take out a loan on a $60,000 Audi hatchback purchased in 2021. They were charged with more than $5,000, more than $5,000, possession of property derived from crimes over $5,000, and receiving proceeds of crime.

Beltrano stole pallets of food that resulted in items being shipped to Ontario. He expects to have stolen more than 120 iPhones during one shift in January 2024, a UPS investigation found.
