The concept of the modern BMW Vision Neue Klasse X crossover has been presented.
This concept is an industrial design that BMW will use in its future electric vehicles. Neue Klasse means “new class” in German. This was the code name for the BMW 1500 and 2000, which brought the company out of the financial crisis in the 60s.
Today, the Neue Klasse brand is used for the electric vehicles of the future, which completely redefine the way BMW looks, works and drives.
In conventional cars, each unit (engine, transmission, system, adapted suspension) is controlled by its own electronic control unit (ECU). BMW says that the Neue Klasse will not have traditional system-specific ECUs.
Instead, the company will use four “high-performance computers that work together efficiently to do what has previously been handled separately.” Each of these computers will be 10 times more powerful than a typical ECU.
Two of the computers will exist during the trip. The first will control everything related to dynamics: from torque transmission to traction control, suspension behavior and adjustment of driving modes. The second will manage everything that is needed for the autopilot: from a set of sensors to GPS route navigation, steering and braking.
The Neue Klasse will use the sixth generation eDrive powertrain. It will operate under a voltage of 800 volts, 10 minutes of charging will be enough for 300 km.
The most interesting aspect of the Vision Neue Klasse X is its design. The company, as it turned out, listened to user criticism and did not mention the nostrils.
The silhouette of the car is still recognizable as a BMW. Distinctive features include thin pillars and a large panoramic roof.
The interior of the Vision Neue Klasse X is designed in a minimalist style. The car has two screens. The central display shows kitchen utensils and all machine functions.
The second panoramic light is positioned so that the black lower part of the windshield fits into the light. This screen displays speed, range and other technical information.
There are practically no buttons in the cabin, except for a small number of buttons on the center console and steering wheel. BMW said the production version will have more physical features.
Production of the production version of the Vision Neue Klasse X is scheduled for 2025. In terms of its dimensions, the Vision Neue Klasse X is exactly similar to the X3 and iX3. Probably, the car will be produced under the iX3 brand or under another name that will replace the iX3. [Motor1]
