HE Windows 11 Notepad will finally have a native autocorrect. The new feature was announced on the official Windows blog last Thursday (21) and was first distributed to test users.
The update is included in version 11.2402.18.0 of the native text editor. Just like autocorrecters in more robust programs (such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs), the native proofreader highlights misspelled words so the user can identify and correct passages more quickly.
The autocorrecter also acts on its own, for certain spelling errors the tool will fix and adjust the problem without the need for user intervention.
To make a manual correction, simply click on the word marked by the corrector and choose one of the system’s alternatives. The word is automatically replaced with the selected option.
As expected, If the corrector shows a false positive, the user can ignore the suggestion or add the word to their personal dictionary. Therefore, the term’s boundaries will no longer be shown in the document or in future projects.
Disabled by default in some formats
Microsoft emphasized that: the tool is disabled by default on some file types, such as log files or documents related to programming in general. The tool can also be enabled or disabled for more formats from the settings menu.
The tool is currently being gradually rolled out to test users. While the company explains that this feature may not be available to all members of the Windows Insiders program in the Beta and Canary channels, MS is monitoring the acceptance of the new feature.
