Scientists have developed a special spectrograph connected to a laser. The doctor simply directs the laser beam at the patient’s tooth, then the data is collected and analyzed using a computer and special software. The press service added that this method provides high diagnostic accuracy and allows you to determine the presence or absence of periodontitis.
Studies have shown that with periodontitis, the content of some substances in tooth enamel changes. The new technique allows you to quickly identify these changes and automatically diagnose them. The new method can also predict the likelihood of periodontitis based on spectral changes in the composition of tooth enamel.
The press service noted that this new diagnostic method has passed successful experimental tests on patients in dental clinics in Samara and will soon be available for use in medical practices.
