Sales of the first electric car from smartphone and home appliance maker Xiaomi have begun in China. Orders for the SU7 sedan will be accepted at 59 stores in 29 cities.

The company has not yet revealed the price of the car. Previously, Xiaomi director Lei Jun said that the SU7 has few competitors for 500 thousand yuan (about 6.5 million rubles).
SU7 is equipped with Xiaomi HyperOS operating system. The car has a high degree of integration with a smartphone and smart home accessories. The saloon will be available in two versions: one with a range of up to 668 km on a single charge, and another with a range of up to 800 km.
Xiaomi first announced its plans to produce electric cars in 2021. However, Chinese authorities are limiting car production to new market entrants. To implement the project, Xiaomi is collaborating with the state-owned Beijing Automotive Group Co.
