The synthesized pigment has a sky-blue hue and can be used to color bone cement as well as tattoos. Scientists conducted experiments showing that manganese ion apatite is non-toxic, paving the way for its use in safe tattoo pigments.
The pigment has already been tested on artificial leather, but more work is needed to improve the synthesis technology and particle size to create a more uniform color signature, according to the study authors.
The study was carried out in the laboratory of the chemistry of natural compounds and their synthetic analogues of the Nizhny Novgorod Lobachevsky University with the participation of scientists from the Faculty of Physics of Nizhny Novgorod State University and the Volga Research Medical University.
