The current GDC 2024 conference is an absolute legend, but, alas, the already somewhat forgotten game Tetris Alexey Pajitnov pred. The prototype was created under the name “Tetris Reversed”, released on the basis of development more than ten years ago together with his colleague, generally the director of Ocean Average Vedran Klanac.
The rules in “Tetris Reversed” remain the same: the player needs to control the falling blocks, changing their position and achieving the required sport. One of these blocks can be used to translate phone numbers into foreign languages, which is necessary during the game.
In the new version, the content of the text should be mentioned, but as a result it is “inverted”. For the most popular users, this also applies to automation. Players’ orders are 15-20 “manual” revolutions.
Another innovation is that after “clearing the garbage,” a free simple wound remains, which attracts a field available to players for maneuver. The goal of the game is to survive as long as possible and get as many points as possible. More recently, games are only 10 minutes long.
Alexey Pajitnov called the updated game “Tetris for people with an IQ of 300”; unfortunately, it will remain a prototype and will never reach the popularity of its distant predecessor.
