The Giga Energy approach solves two problems at once: reducing environmental impact and creating “value” from unsustainably used resources. Traditionally, oil fields burn excess natural gas, which releases harmful greenhouse gases. Giga captures this gas and converts it into electricity to power powerful mining computers.
After successful operations in East Texas and Shanghai, Giga opened its first venture in Argentina, partnering with oil and gas company Phoenix Global Resources and IT services company Exa Tech. The original two-megawatt mine operates atop the Vaca Muerta shale formation in the foothills of the Andes.
