Microsoft plans to reposition the widget shortcut on the Windows 11 Taskbar once again. In last Friday’s update (29), testers of the Beta version of the system found the button next to the System Tray.
The new location of the shortcut only applies to systems with a more traditional Taskbar where icons are aligned to the left. The button also displays quick temperature and weather information. It is now located next to the System Tray and continues with the same functions as always.
According to Microsoft, the button is slightly larger than before, which allows more information to be displayed quickly. When you tap the icon and activate the widget tray, the shortcut moves to the left area of the Taskbar.
While the change is subtle, it makes the Taskbar more consistent. Users who prefer a section closer to the traditional look no longer need to disable the widget shortcut to keep the design clean.
This is an experimental change, Therefore, it is unclear whether the system will reach its final version.
