The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has asked Apple for a detailed explanation of why the use of third-party payment systems in iOS was violated in Russia.

Since the company does not provide the necessary banks with access to NFC, the FAS checked the company’s actions for violations of antimonopoly legislation. Russia cannot use all the stated capabilities of the iPhone to receive banking services and make payments.

Apple and the App Store in particular do not allow mobile apps to be used by most banks and do not support external apps or programs on iOS that are not in the App Store.

So, on iPhones in the Russian Federation there is only Apple Pay, which does not work. But Mir Pay, SberPay, Tinkoff Pay and other systems cannot be used. In its response, the FAS referred to the fact that in Europe Apple allowed the installation of alternative stores and opened an organization for access to NFC. [Известия]
