Requiring phone unlocking to make payments: Previously, some countries allowed contactless payments up to a certain threshold without unlocking the phone. This application has been removed. Google Wallet now requires your phone to be unlocked for all retail payments. 9to5Google writes that this is a good change from a security standpoint, but some users have complained and wanted Google Wallet to follow the same behavior/restrictions as their physical cards.
However, to speed up taking public transport, Google Wallet recommends disabling verification for travel cards. However, you can enable this option for more security.
