Google just introduced Videonew Workspace app that lets you create collaboration videos using Twins, this is artificial intelligence. What’s interesting is that the company is aiming for this utility to become a natural replacement for PowerPoint – and any other presentation tool – in work environments.

According to Google, Vids is an “all-in-one assistant” for video, writing, production and editing. Once it reaches users, the new application will coexist with other utilities such as Documents, Presentations and Spreadsheets.

One of the signature elements of Google Vids is its deep integration with Gemini. There will be a section in the application interface called “Help me create a video”where you need to enter fast text defining what type of video you want to create, with the ability to specify several parameters. Additionally, it will provide the ability to add documents stored in your Google Drive so that artificial intelligence will extract their contents and use it to determine the content of the clip.

Google Video will automatically generate storyboard which you can change, reorder or exclude the created “vignettes”. After completing this step, you need to select a template. Once you’ve created a video, you can edit it by adding photos, music, or stock footage, as well as record narration or select a preset voice.

Google Vids, a new video collaboration app for work environments

Google says Vids is designed to solve common problems in the work environment. For example, to post project updates, introduce new ideas, or make specific data easier to access (for example, when new employees join the team). Essentially, everything that could be done with PowerPoint is being replaced by video created using artificial intelligence..

Actually, Edge includes an interesting statement from Christina Behr, vice president of product management for Workspace collaboration applications. “If you can make slides, you can make videos in Vids,” he said.

It’s worth noting that Google Vids won’t rely solely on Gemini to create video presentations. Users will be able to do without the option based on artificial intelligence and do the work manually. The application will provide quick access to templates, allow you to record your computer screen and upload previously selected photos, videos and other multimedia materials.

Another important point about this new utility is that since it is work-oriented, it will include collaboration elements. This means that those who receive a video created using Google Vids will be able to add comments, annotations, or even make new edits. Of course this will also be possible export it to MP4 share it without applying further changes.

Google Vids is another attempt by the Californians to deepen the integration of their products and services with Gemini, their cutting-edge artificial intelligence. It remains to be seen whether the app will be compelling enough to truly become a replacement for PowerPoint and similar solutions. In terms of accessibility, Google plans to include Vids in Workspace Labs. starting from June.
