Sales of electric vehicles have increased in Russia. According to Avtostat, in the first five months of this year, 65% more cars were sold in the country than in the same period of the previous year. Tesla Model Y became the most popular electric car.

Avtostat reported a 65% increase in sales of electric cars in Russia

In January-May 2022, 1,119 electric vehicles were sold in Russia, Avtostat reported. This is 65% more than in the same period in 2021.

In terms of popularity among buyers, the models were distributed as follows:

  1. Tesla Model Y - 248 pieces;
  2. Tesla Model 3 - 211 pieces;
  3. Porsche Cayman - 131 pieces;
  4. Audi E-Tron - 88 pieces;
  5. E-Tron Sportback - 70 pieces.

49% of electric vehicles were sold in Moscow and the Moscow region, 11% - in St. Petersburg. 79 cars were purchased in the Krasnodar Territory.

The head of Avtostat pointed out that in Russia there is a tendency to decrease sales of electric vehicles. According to Sergei Tselikov, sales will fall in the coming months.

Until the end of 2021, it was possible to transport electric vehicles in Russia without paying a fee. In 2022, this rule was abolished.
