Scientists have pointed out the possibility of using domestic and industrial waste such as food scraps, wood, paper, plastic and other materials to produce biofuel. This waste-based fuel production technology already exists, but its scaling and economic efficiency require further research.
The researchers also looked at the environmental aspects of the process, noting the possible increase in carbon emissions when transporting SAF. However, according to the results, producing fuel from waste near airports will reduce environmental pollution and prevent methane emissions caused by the decomposition of garbage in landfills.
