According to market participants, the scheme is of shocking proportions and has become a business. Hundreds of such cases are being processed in court, and last year alone the total amount of claims against large sellers of electronic products exceeded one billion rubles.

The problem may be related to the departure of foreign manufacturers and “a period of crisis or instability,” experts say.

The relevant associations proposed to tighten the requirements for the examination of goods, from which citizens receive compensation.

Lawyers say retailers already have all the legal tools necessary to fight scammers. According to the law, the consumer can expect a maximum of reimbursement of the cost of the goods, the collection of penalties and fines.
