Starting in 2026, self-employed workers in Russia will be able to make voluntary contributions to the Social Fund to receive benefits in case of illness. The corresponding bill has already been prepared and is in the process of interdepartmental approval. The Ministry of Labor informed Izvestia about this.

Within two years, an experiment to connect professional income tax (IPT) taxpayers with the voluntary social insurance program will be carried out throughout Russia.
For now, self-employed people can only request a pension voluntarily. In order to receive sick leave now, they must, for example, register as an individual entrepreneur.
They intend to launch a pilot project on deductions due to the growing number of professional income tax taxpayers (there are already more than 10 million people, according to business associations).
