An observer on the Android Authority portal pointed this out. The Quarantined Apps feature page is hidden from users, but the option to enable it is available in the settings of the Android 14 QPR2 Beta 1 test build. For now, we’re only talking about the beta testing of quarantine, which will use the same APIs currently used on Android to suspend apps.
Presumably, Quarantined Apps will work in the same way as Google’s Digital Wellbeing tool, which puts apps in a frozen state to prevent incompatibilities and errors. Although the quarantined app will be displayed on the home screen, launcher, and settings, the windows of such apps will be hidden, notifications will be blocked, and activities and processes will be suspended.
It is not yet known whether the new feature will be released in Android 15 or in other versions of the operating system.
