Aria, a virtual assistant with artificial intelligence (AI) in the Opera browser, received important updates this Thursday (25). Functions make it easy to interact with the chatbot; a new command line and new “Page Content Mode” that helps the user understand the content on the screen.
The first new feature is Aria’s command line interface. The function creates a more direct path to the chatbot, even with a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl + “/” on Windows or Cmd + “/” on macOS).
Thanks to the new feature, the user will be able to enter his order from the command bar in his chat with Aria. If the conversation requires more detail or includes more questions, There’s a possibility to move the conversation to the AI sidebar and make the interaction much less disruptive.
New Page Content Mode
The other addition of the update is Page Content Mode. The tool allows the user to query Aria by requesting explanations or summaries about the textual content of the current page.
“If the user is viewing a vacuum cleaner purchasing page, they can open the command line and ask Aria for other vacuum cleaner recommendations based on their needs,” Opera explains.
In a way, The feature is similar to an experimental vehicle located in Microsoft Edge. In the Microsoft browser, this function allows the user to ask Copilot questions, the answers to which will be extracted from the page itself.
According to Opera, Page Context Mode can help with tasks like summarizing the text of a page, extracting specific information from the text (like key points), and translating content in a foreign language.
All features announced for Aria are part of Opera One, the AI-focused version of the browser. The program was released to the public in June 2023 and is available for free download.
