The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation issued a warning to the market Ozon for forcing sellers to participate in the “Points for Discounts” service. This is stated in the message from the antitrust department.

It is reported that, in addition to imposing participation, the market unjustifiably refused to conclude contracts and committed other actions that contain signs of violation of the law on the protection of competition.
FAS reported that the company “needs to make changes to the offer, as well as stop practices that contain signs of violation of the law.”
It should be noted that Ozon’s actions should not lead to a worsening of partners’ conditions.
If the warning is not implemented, the service will initiate a case for violation of antitrust legislation.
“The opinion of the competition authority is necessary to maintain transparent rules in the industry. Therefore, the FAS call is an important signal for us. We will pay attention to it and study all the requirements. We constantly cooperate with the department and will continue the dialogue to clarify and resolve controversial issues,” they told RB.RU in the Ozon press service.
As previously reported, at the end of March 2024, the government removed FAS IT company inspections from the moratorium. Thus, the department can now check, among other things, aggregators and marketplaces. FAS intends to eliminate existing violations in this area.
