Now bots not only answer calls from scammers, but also neutralize fake intermediaries. On sites with obvious signs of fraud, the service automatically leaves hundreds of inquiries or callback requests. After this, the attacker calls potential victims, but ends up with humanoid robots. They keep the criminal online and thus prevent him from calling real people.

“Cybersquall” was created on the basis of our own developments in the field of artificial intelligence and voice assistants. The goal is to spend the fake brokers’ work time talking to robots that can be mistaken for potential customers.

“We decided to act proactively: infiltrate the criminals’ den with the help of saboteur robots, create an avalanche of fake applications, confuse scammers and waste their time,” said Oleg Zamiralov, head of the ecosystem protection center from T-Bank, whose words are quoted in the message.

During the day of operation, “Cybershkval” receives an average of about 2,000 fraudulent calls, which last between 3 and 5 minutes.

In October, VTB called the most popular telephone fraud schemes calls from fake employees of banks, telecom operators and government agencies, fictitious investment profits and online part-time work.

That same month, InfoWatch reported on another fraudulent scheme: the victim is asked to download an app to protect against money theft, which is actually spyware.
