The company has so far managed to keep the technical data of the tablets secret. But considering past implementations, we can assume that they will be released on the M3 chip.
However, recent rumors suggest that Apple may skip this generation and introduce a new M4 that significantly expands the AI capabilities of the iPad Pro. Thus, we may soon witness the announcement of Cupertino’s first “AI products”.
Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman shared this information in the latest issue of the Power On newsletter.
The technical specifications of the M4 have not been disclosed, but the analyst suggests that the new iPad Pro will be positioned as the first Apple devices with powerful artificial intelligence capabilities. The presentation will be a “preview” of sorts, hinting at what AI innovations we should expect by the end of the year and at WWDC.
It is unlikely that the M4 was developed according to a fundamentally new architecture. Instead, the M3 design will be slightly modified to create a “revolutionary” chip effect.
Since the iPad Pro will be positioned as “AI devices”, we can expect a larger neural network in the M4 to handle complex tasks.
Similar changes are expected to be made in the A18 and A18 Pro chips, which are required for artificial intelligence functions to work in iOS 18.
