The main area of investment will be the development of palladium-based catalysts for hydrogen energy. Norilsk Nickel stated that these catalysts will increase the efficiency of hydrogen production and make it a more affordable and environmentally friendly fuel.
Palladium can also be used in solar energy as a solar cell. Palladium chalcogenide, the material from which such solar cells are produced, is highly efficient and could be an alternative to traditional silicon solar cells.
Besides hydrogen and solar energy, palladium can also be used in water purification. Norilsk Nickel added that palladium catalysts make it possible to remove various contaminants from water, making it cleaner and safer for humans.
