The new feature will allow you to create archives in common formats directly from Explorer by right-clicking on the files and selecting “Compress”.

In this case, users will be able to choose the archive format (TAR or 7-ZIP) and compression options.

In addition to supporting these two formats, the updated build of Windows 11 will also include an improved Explorer address bar, the return of the Show Desktop button, and new ad types in the Start menu.

The functionality to create TAR and 7-ZIP archives is expected to be available in Windows 11 update 22H2 and 23H2.
