To do this, experts trained worker ants to smell the urine of mice with tumors and compare it to the urine of healthy subjects.
As a result, the ants quickly developed a conditioned reflex to odor and began to spend much more time in the studied olfactory area, demonstrating their ability to distinguish it from other odors.
The scientists noted that their work, including those related to the development of biological methods for cancer diagnosis, may have long-term hope. This is much cheaper than using complex analyzes and techniques for the same purposes.
