iOS 17.5 beta 4 introduced a new “Repair Status” feature that allows you to track your iPhone through Latitude during repairs.
It should be turned on if the iPhone is being repaired so as not to disable Latitude. In addition, after Apple added protection for a stolen device, you cannot immediately disable Latitude. In some cases, the wait is about an hour until such an opportunity arises.
After enabling Repair Status, the system will ask you to enter your Apple ID and password. Before repairing, the service center employee must make sure that the person has a reliable iPhone, and then can begin disassembling the smartphone without turning off the Latitude.
“Repair Status” can be enabled in the Locator drive, but is not recommended for now. At the moment it is unknown how to remove the device from this mode. It’s possible that Apple hasn’t added this feature yet. But it is also possible that service center employees should disable the function after the repair is completed. [9to5Mac]
