Foreign journalists have already received the latest iPad Pro 2024.

All reviewers agreed that this is the best tablet on the market, and it has a great screen. However, there are also disadvantages.

First things first.

1. Edge

Best in class, but has too much stuff that most people don’t need

Journalists from The Verge shared some of their first impressions. The following are excerpts from their text.

The test included an iPad Pro 13 with 1 TB of internal memory and 16 GB of RAM. In tests, the new M4 processor turned out to be 50% more powerful than the M2, but a replacement is not always announced. But what is noticeable is that the tablet practically does not heat up even in the most complex tasks. Yes, it can be warm, but nothing more.

All the traditional OLED pros are clear: Because OLED displays drive each pixel individually, you continue to get much richer blacks. The colors are incredibly vibrant – to the point that sometimes they look too contrasty. The peak brightness of the iPad Pro is also significantly higher than that of the new Air.

One new disadvantage of the screen: it collects more glare than the iPad Air. But this is easily offset by an increase in living standards.

In terms of weight, the tablet feels incredibly light. With the iPad look, weight was always an issue because it was hard to hold for long periods of time. There is no such problem here.

The other big design change here was that Apple finally put the front-facing camera in the right place: in the middle of the long side of the iPad. It’s now a landscape-oriented device to varying degrees, and that’s a good thing.

There are currently two types of iPad users. The first type wants an easy way to send emails, read news, crossword puzzles, view photos and websites. For these people, the new iPad Pro is a complete overkill.

The other type does all these things, but more: what really matters to them. Musicians love him because he turns notes into music; students for the opportunity to write with their hands; animeists for quickly viewing video materials; designers to show interactive renderings to clients.

Most of the new features came to iPad Pro thanks to Apple Pencil Pro. It has a nice new pinch gesture that applies and makes navigating menus and frequently used tools more difficult.

The new Barrel Roll feature will also be somewhat new for all artists. You can easily change your virtual brush to a pen or vice versa by simply twisting the pencil as you draw.

The same applies to the new Magic Keyboard, which my favorite update this year. Using this chain with a sequence in a MacBook, the experience is exactly the same. The new model is much more durable than the previous one, but it wobbles slightly when you touch the iPad screen.

Now that there’s a row of function keys and a larger trackpad, I Can you use a tablet watch?without raising your hand. Best of all, it’s about 50 grams lighter than before.

However, the main problem with the new iPad Pro remains its operating system, which is greatly reduced compared to macOS. You can’t do some things you did on a MacBook. But you can hold it in your hands in bed. You can draw on the screen. You can play mobile games. Everyone at Apple talks about the “versatility” of the iPad. However, the hardest part here is that it’s really hard to do everything well.

2. Engadget

Incredibly cool and incredibly expensive

We also shared our impressions on Engadget.

If you look at the iPad Pro M4, you won’t notice any differences between it and the previous model. The display still occupies the covering portion of the front panel, with equally sized bezels surrounding it. The Face ID camera is now on the side (a cool change that Apple first introduced on the base iPad in late 2022), but it’s virtually invisible to the eye.

As for the new screen. It has essentially the same resolution as the old iPad Pro (2,752 x 2,064, 264 ppi), but a number of other key specifications are limited. For example, it has a contrast ratio of 2,000,000 to 1, and blacks become truly black.

All incredibly bright and clearWhether I’m browsing websites, editing photos, watching or playing movies. I can’t help but take the lead by showing off this screen. View some scenes from Interstellar with HDR capabilities, also showing the contrast between the blackness of space and the brightness of the surrounding star and galaxy.

It’s a pity, but I wasn’t given an iPad Pro with nanoglass, so I haven’t been able to evaluate the anti-glare properties yet.

When the company briefed the press last week, it showed off new versions of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad, both of which had impressive features. For example, Final Cut Pro gains multi-camera support, which allows you to wirelessly sync multiple iPhones or iPads to a single master device, and record and control them simultaneously.

All the features were very impressive in the demos I saw, but none of them require M4. Of course, when you spend over $1000, I know well that you will get performance that will last you many years in the future, but there is nothing right now that requires that kind of power.

M4 Geekbench scores: 3,709 (single-core), 14,680 (multi-core). This chip eclipses the M2’s numbers (2621/10,058).

Luckily, the new chip remains as energy efficient as ever. I still haven’t done proper battery testing. But I used it as my main computer for several days and got almost 10 hours of battery life on a single charge.

Either way, this is a very, very expensive tablet. Perhaps he is even overrated. And before you buy, it’s better to think about whether you need such power, and not the same iPad Air, which may be the same thing, but has simpler hardware.

What’s surprising is that Apple is putting all of its newest technology into the iPad, not the Mac. It has the latest and greatest chip, it has an incredible OLED screen, it has the best sound for such an ultra-thin body.

It’s an amazing tablet, but it has iPadOS problem, which is unable to perform a number of tasks. This OS is enough for my work tasks, but there are times when it is impossible to do without a Mac. So, if I were at an event like CES, I would want my MacBook Pro to work on Google Docs in addition to presenting and editing photos. I can do these things on the iPad, but it’s not that easy. Mainly because the Google Docs app doesn’t handle comments well.

Apple hasn’t revealed any signs that it’s making iPadOS more like a Mac. These two worlds are different. With rumors of a big iPadOS redesign at WWDC next month, you shouldn’t expect the software experience to change anytime soon.
