Apple wants to change the system of paying fees to actors who play in Apple TV+ series and films.

Under the new plan, the salaries of actors and producers on set will depend on how successful the film or TV series is. If a lot of people watch the film, its creators will receive big bonuses. Otherwise the results will be much less.

Apple has already met with the actors to talk about the new model. It includes bonuses of various sizes based on a points system.

The size of the bonuses will depend on the number of people who subscribe to Apple TV+, the time spent watching the content, and how much it costs compared to the regular size. The creators of one of the top three series on Apple TV+ can receive up to $10.5 million per season.

For now, this is just an idea that is in the early stages of discussion. But Netflix and Amazon are planning to implement a similar system.

Platforms want to change their payment system to reduce costs and incentivize the creation of better content. Nowadays, the company can pay large fees to the cast and crew before the film is even released. This trend started with Netflix, which used to attract famous actors this way. [Bloomberg]
